The firm was founded in 1970 by Richard Haynes and Michael Boone.
Haynes and Boone was awarded the 2008 W. Frank Newton Award for outstanding pro bono efforts. The firm was selected in recognition of its seven-year effort that freed two Mexican nationals wrongly convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.[4]
Haynes and Boone has its headquarters in the One Victory Park building in Uptown Dallas.[5][6]
In March 1997 Haynes and Boone moved its headquarters and 1,000 employees out of the Burnett Plaza facility in Fort Worth, Texas and moved into 21,900 square feet (2,030 m2) on the 22nd floor of what was then the Texas Commerce Tower.[7]
Before it was in One Victory Park, Haynes and Boone had its headquarters in 216,000 square feet (20,100 m2) in the Bank of America Plaza in Downtown Dallas. By 2006 the company announced that it was moving to a new headquarters facility.[8] On October 27, 2008 Haynes and Boone moved into One Victory Park; the firm was the first major tenant that moved into the building. The firm downsized its space to 175,000 square feet (16,300 m2) of space on six floors.[5] The offices of higher ranked employees were the same size as those of lower ranked employees so efficiency could be increased.[8]
